MADURAI: In Theni on Thursday, the home district of the Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. O. Pannerselvam saw a huge local crowd cheering him line-by-line at a function to mark AIADMK founder MGR's birth centenary, whose political significance was quickly seized upon by  Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

The resultant outcome was a not-easy-to-forget ‘Theni combo’. While the Chief Minister asserted to the crowd that the party and his government will function like a “double barrel gun”, hinting that any hiatus between the two limbs would be sorted out, a cheerful looking Pannerselvam disclosed that ‘good news’ was expected in a few days from the Election Commission on allotment of the party’s ‘Two Leaves’ symbol to them. All on a day when Sasikala ‘parivar’s assets came under an unprecedented Income-Tax scrutiny.
