Oommen Chandy asks if it is solar report or Saritha report

Thiruvananthapuram: Former chief minister Oommen Chandy challenged the  findings of the solar judicial commission report within hours after it was tabled in the  special session of the Assembly on Thursday. An unperturbed Chandy told reporters at the KPCC office that the LDF government had  interfered with the report. He would quit public life if there was even one percent truth in the allegations, he said. He also termed it as  ‘Saritha report’ as it was based on her 21-page letter. For the last four years, he had been targeted in the case. Even people who were close to him had tried to blackmail him but he did not fall into their trap. “However, I fell for the blackmail  of one person which I will  reveal eventually,” Mr Chandy said.

There was lack of transparency in the report  submitted by the Justice G. Sivarajan commission, he said and added that  there was an ‘evil haste’  in releasing the report.  Once it was released,  there was no transparency in the actions taken by the government. The letter belonging to Saritha S. Nair was given in two different places in the report which is odd, he said. He also expressed doubts over the veracity of the letter as  the one she had written from the jail had 21 pages initially.

But the letter considered by the judicial commission has  25 pages. “Out of the four volumes, the  commission has not signed one which is a serious mistake. It should be found out whether it was left out by mistake or due to some  other reasons.   After the commission  submitted the report to the government, an  official was sent to  the  commission’s office to get it signed,”  said Mr Chandy. He also warned that  the UDF will strongly face  the   government’s  ‘revenge politics’ politically and legally.  When the  final verdict comes,  his perpetrators will see him walking with his  head held high, he said. “I  have always been in the midst of people. In my long political career, no such allegations have been raised against me.  Since I  work among the people,  they would have come to know if I had some weaknesses.  Even if there is one percent truth in the allegations, I would end my political career,” added Mr Chandy.
