V Narayanasamy seeks more funds for Pondicherry

The Chief Minister requested Mr Singh to enhance the allocation for Puducherry under the non-plan sector.

Puducherry: Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Friday called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Narayanasamy greeted Mrs Gandhi on her birthday. “Mrs Gandhi greeted me for the election victory in the recent bypoll held and asked to provide good governance for the people of Puducherry”, said Mr Narayanasamy to the media persons over phone. Mr Narayanasamy who is camping in New Delhi also held discussions with union home minister Rajnath Singh.

The Chief Minister  requested Mr Singh to enhance the allocation for Puducherry under the non-plan sector. Though the union government is enhancing funds for all states, the fund allocation was not enhanced for the Union Territory for the past five years, said the Chief Minister. “I have requested to enhance the allocation and also to provide the funds for five years”, he added. Mr Singh after
holding talks with the Home Ministry officials  assured the Chief Minister that he will take up the issue with the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
