GUNTUR: The pending construction works of the ancient and historical Kondaveedu fort ghat road has restarted at Kondaveedu hill in Guntur on Saturday. The contractor had stopped the ghat road construction as the bills for the last phase of construction were not sanctioned in September. The Kondaveedu fort development committee convener K. Siva Reddy said that the committee had taken the issue to the notice of the government through ministers. The officials have resolved the issue and the works have restarted.

Mr Siva Reddy said that the committee had taken up the issue to the State government through AP minister for civil supplies P. Pulla Rao. He said that as the State government decided to conduct Kondaveedu cultural festival in March 2018, the completion of ghat road is essential. He said that the ghat road was almost complete except for the last phase so Mr Rao sought the help of government to resolve the bills issue hence the officials entered into fray and settled the bills matter which helped the contractor to restart the last phase construction works of ghat road. He mentioned that reaching Kondaveedu hilltop is a Herculean without ghat road to the public hence the committee asserted on the need of ghat road completion.

Mr Siva Reddy visited the Kondaveedu Fort on Saturday and welcomed the restart of ghat road construction works. He said that the government proposed eco and heritage tourism development and hoped that Kondaveedu fort will turn as the main attraction in the coming days. He added the minister Pulla Rao directed the contractor and officials to complete the pending ghat road works in three weeks and hoped ghat road to serve the public from January 2018.
