Mangaluru: Two arrested in dacoity case

Mangaluru: Mangaluru City police have arrested two people in connection with a dacoity case and have seized Rs 16.57 lakh and a bike from the accused.

The crime took place on October 20 around 7:30 pm when 67-year-old Ganesh Kamath was waylaid near Sri Rama Bhajana Mandir in Bejai by two people who came on a bike. They forcefully took the bag comprising Rs 24 lakh from him and fled. A case in this connection was filed at the Urwa police station.

The Anti-Rowdy Squad of Mangaluru central zone has now arrested the two accused and has seized money from them. Police said that the duo- Mohammed Shafi (26) and Mohammed Riyaz  (19) are from Ilanthila  in Belthangady taluk. The cops also seized Rs 16.57 lakh and a bike.
