Andhra Pradesh: Model police stations to be opened on Sankranti

GUNTUR: The AP police department is trying to change the image of police stations from the minds of the public by introducing model police stations with all corporate facilities, including cushion beds to the accused in the custody room. The construction of Nagarampalem and old Guntur model police stations is nearing to complete and the two police stations are the first to have corporate facilities  the AP.

Normally, beds and fans are not available in the police stations but the two model police station are having beds and fans in the custody rooms and this is the first time that the police department is providing such facilities. The front look of the model police station with transparent glasses resembles a software or corporate company office. The passersby are stopping at the model police stations to see the new corporate models.

The premises have been switched into green with various types of attractive trees, including trees brought from famous Kadiam nursery. Reception, central work station, chambers of CIs and SIs, control room and staff room are available in the model police station. Besides these facilities, dormitory facility is available for the police staff. Earlier, the police coming for bandobust and other duties had to stay in the nearby places but now they can take rest in the model police station.

Locals D. Rakesh and others said that the public are wondering over the changing look of the police stations which is good  for the reformation of police department. They also sought change in the behaviour of the policemen.
