Cold snap ups Swine Flu cases in Hyderabad, one dead
Cold weather increases the spread of the swine flu virus.
Hyderabad: A dip in temperatures is a known accelerant of swine flu and six cases have been reported so far in the past three days as a cold spell continues to grip the city. There has also been a death.
A 35-year-old woman from Yadadri passed away at Gandhi Hospital within a few hours of being admitted. A senior doctor said: “Her blood samples were taken and sent for testing to the Institute of Preventive Medicine but a confirmation came only after two days. She had come to us in a very serious condition.”
Another 45-year-old woman, from the Ranga Reddy district, is currently undergoing treatment for swine flu at the Gandhi Hospital. Dist-rict medical and health officials say that there has been a sudden surge of cases due to the cold wave being experienced by the region .
A senior medical officer said: “People have to exercise extreme caution and have to keep an eye on the symptoms. If the fever continues to remain high, then they must report to the nearest qualified hospital, immediately.” The official added that maintaining the cough etiquette is also very impo-rtant during this period as it helps to control the spread of the virus.
