Petition seeks probe against Chief Secretary SM Vijayanand
The petition has been posted for further hearing on January 13, during which the Vigilance counsel will present the VACB stand.
Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance special court here has sought the remarks of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) on a petition seeking probe into various allegations against chief secretary S. M. Vijayanand, including that he masterminded the one-day strike call by IAS officers.
The petition has been posted for further hearing on January 13, during which the Vigilance counsel will present the VACB stand.
Other allegations levelled by petitioner, Thiruvananthapuram-native Paichira Navaz, included suppressing of adverse reports against additional chief secretary Tom Jose, former state police chief T. P. Senkumar and ADGP (intelligence) R. Sreelekha.
The petitioner alleged that Mr Vijayanand was likely to face legal actions in connection with several ongoing vigilance probes. Hence, he masterminded the stir plan targeted at VACB director Jacob Thomas.
The petitioner also alleged that Mr Vijayanand deliberately delayed or ignored several requests of Mt Thomas seeking crucial information required for various probes.
The petitioner also urged that Mr Vijayanand should be kept off the charges of VACB until the probe was over.
