Mysuru: Hubby dead, prasada victim inconsolable
18-month-old child still on ventilator 23 days after temple tragedy.
Mysuru: On the ventilator for over 20 days after she ate the deadly prasada at the Sulawadi temple in Chamrajanagar on December 14, Eeshwari, 35, had no idea her husband, Rangan, 45, did not survive the incident.
As she prepared to get discharged from a private hospital on Wednesday, Eshwari pleaded with Chamarajnagar District Health Officer, Dr Prasad K H, to let her meet her husband before she went home. It was only then that she learnt of his death from the DHO, who could not help but become emotional himself.
While Rangan died at the Suyog hospital here on December 22, their five -year- old daughter, Anu, who too ate the prasada, has recovered. An inconsolable Eeshwari was sent home with her daughter and relatives.
Fortunately, her older daughter, Nadiya, a class 7 student, was in school, and did not go to the temple with her family and so was saved. While her mother and sister battled for their lives, she attended her father's cremation on December 23. For Eshwari, however, her homecoming was filled with despair as she did not even get to say goodbye to her husband.
Meanwhile, 18- month- old Mohan is still on a ventilator at Narayana Hrudayalaya 23 days after the incident. and three more of the temple's devotees are being treated in other hospitals.
