5279 villages electrified in 6 months, says Modi
Excellent work has been done by Power Ministry in Bihar, UP, Odisha, Assam and Jharkhand, he said.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the rural electrification process is doing "exceedingly well" and that 5279 villages have been electrified within six months.
"From the ramparts of the Red Fort last year, I had called for the electrification of all remaining villages in 1000 days (18,452 villages)," he tweeted.
"Happy to share that Team India has done exceedingly well. Within about 6 months only (around 200 days), we have crossed the 5000 mark," Modi said in another tweet.
He said 5279 villages have already been electrified in this period.
"Excellent work has been done by the Power Ministry in Bihar, UP, Odisha, Assam and Jharkhand," the Prime Minister said and gave link to the Power Ministry, saying it shares real time updates on rural electrification.
