Thiruvananthapuram: The confusion over the transfer of higher secondary teachers continues forcing the directorate of higher secondary education to cancel an earlier order. It had issued an order asking the teachers who were transferred to return to the parent schools.

However, many teachers had pointed out that there was some practical difficulty. The government has now frozen the transfer and asked the teachers to continue in the new school itself through the order issued on Wednesday.

The order, however, has asked such teachers to cooperate with the continuing evaluation process, practical examinations, internal and external examinations and invigilation duties as per the directives, the order issued by the director of higher secondary education K. V. Mohan Kumar said. The decision of the directorate to issue transfer orders at the fag-end of the academic year had earlier kicked up a controversy.

The main criticism was derailing the examination process as the teachers would be engaged in activities like a revision of theory portions and practical experiments, clearing doubts, record certification and model exams for both theory and practical. The practical exams are scheduled to for February and theory in March. Though the government had taken steps for the transfers in September, the Election Commission had kept them in abeyance due to civic polls.

Following this, the government issued an order to transfer all the teachers who have completed five years of service in a place on January 12. Following this, the teachers were asked to join the new schools only in June.

However, some teachers had joined the new schools. These teachers have been asked to return to the parent schools.
