Farmer suicide at rally: 5 AAP members to be questioned

New Delhi: Five Aam Aadmi Party members are to be questioned on Thursday by Delhi Police in connection with the death of farmer Gajendra Singh at a party rally at Jantar Mantar last year.
"Senior AAP leaders Sanjay Singh, Ashish Khaitan, Kumar Vishwas, Punjab MP Bhagwant Mann and a volunteer identified as Neeraj Kumar, were served notices under section 60 of CrPC in the past two days," a senior police officer said.
The five persons have been asked to join the investigation in the case at the R K Puram, Sector 8, office of Crime Branch at 12.30 PM today, he said.
The officer said the police have prepared a detailed questionnaire which they will be asked to respond to.
On April 22, Gajendra Singh, a farmer from Rajasthan, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in full public view in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at an Aam Aadmi Party rally.
The police registered a case under Sections 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 306 (abetment of suicide) against several unnamed persons at the Parliament Street police station.
Later, the case was transferred to Delhi Police's Crime Branch.
