Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad will have its first TRS mayor and deputy mayor by Thursday, and it’s most likely that they will be corporators from Cherlapally, Bonthu Rammohan, and Boraband, Baba Fasiuddin Md, respectively. Both are young, active and had participated in the Telangana movement.

In the just-concluded GHMC polls, the TRS bagged 99 of the 150 divisions, AIMIM 44, BJP four, Congress 2 and TD one, effectively giving the ruling party enough votes to install its pick as the city’s mayor. Interestingly, there is talk in TRS circles that party president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is considering having two deputy mayors, one of them a woman. P. Vijaya Reddy, daughter of former CLP leader P. Janardhan Reddy is said to be a frontrunner.

Though the MIM is an ally of the TRS, it has decided not to seek any post since the TRS has absolute majority. Ruling TRS corporators and ex officio members of GHMC will meet in Telangana Bhavan at 8 am where MAUD minister K.T. Rama Rao, who spearheaded the TRS election campaign, will address them. Ministers Mohd. Mahmood Ali, Nayani Narasimha Reddy, T. Padma Rao and T. Srinivas Yadav, GHMC TRS president M. Hanumantha Rao and others will also participate.
