Chennai: 1.21 lakh cops to get special identity cards soon
The DGP has nominated Assistant Inspector General-Admin as nodal officer for implementation of the Special Identity card project.
Chennai: The State Govt has decided issue special identity cards with hologram security features to police personnel across the State at a cost of Rs 91.92 lakh.
In a communication sent to the heads of various units, the DGP has stated that the dept will issue 1.21 lakh identity cards to police personnel. The Government has sanctioned Rs 91.92 lakh as non-recurring expenditure on August 30, 2016. Based on this, open tender was floated and provisional purchase order was issued to M/s Printography Systems (I) Private Ltd, Mumbai at the cost of Rs 84.00 lakh.
The DGP has nominated Assistant Inspector General-Admin as nodal officer for implementation of the Special Identity card project and he would be Special Identity card issuing authority. Data entry form can be collected from AIG-Admin. The unit officer has to ensure that the duly filled in validated forms with covering letter and abstract has to reach AIG-Admin before March 20.
