BJP netas happy with good' response to yatra
BJP leaders plan to cover two Assembly constituencies every day, an average of about five to six km in each segment.
BENGALURU: Leaders of the state unit of BJP are beaming in view of a good response from people to the fortnight-long ‘Save Bengaluru’ march launched by the city unit on March 2.
With focus on the law and order issue, the BJP leaders plan to cover two Assembly constituencies every day, an average of about five to six km in each segment. The case of assault involving the son of Congress legislator N.A. Haris, and attack on Lokayukta Justice P. Vishwanath Shetty in his office have given these leaders adequate ammunition against the state government. “Our leaders commence and end their speech with these two issues and evoke prompt response, says former MLC, Ashwathnarayana.
“When party leaders started padayatra from U.B. City Tower to Brigade road junction, shopkeepers have come out and garlanded the leaders on Brigade Road. It was something unique because Brigade Road area is represented by Shantinagar MLA N.A. Haris. The episode involving his son has helped us reach the public very fast. We repeatedly mention this brutal attack in our public meeting,” said party spokesperson A.H. Anand, who is also party in-charge of Shantinagar constituency, adding, “whenever political parties take out padayatra, it causes traffic jam. People curse us for making them wait in traffic. But I observed that people have co-operated through out and they have not shown any restlessness to wait in traffic. It shows a positive signal to us that people are fed up with the state government for poor handling of law and order in the city,” Mr. Anand said.
