Kochi: Shine Varghese, who has petitioned the High Court against Cardinal Mar George Alencherry in the controversial land deal  in Ernakulam – Angamaly archdiocese,  will again approach the court seeking action against the police for failing to comply with  its order.      A  single bench of Justice Kemal Pasha had  ordered the Ernakulam central police to register a case against the cardinal, but the police are yet to take any  action.   Hence, a contempt of court petition will be filed against the central police, the petitioner said.

The central police have already sought expert opinion from the advocate-general in registering an FIR against the cardinal. Based on the legal opinion, the police will finalise the sections of the IPC under which the FIR will be registered.   Besides the cardinal, cases are to be registered against  three others involved in the land deal. Meanwhile,  Mr P.T.  Thomas MLA has said  that the state government was  liable to implement the court  order in the  case.
