Puducherry: Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Saturday warned that the Centre will have to face consequences in case of delay in setting up the Cauvery Management Board (CMB)

The Supreme Court verdict insists to set up Cauvery Water Management Board within six weeks and that it should be implemented or else the Centre would face serious consequences, said the Chief Minister while talking to reporters here.
Mr Narayanasamy reminded the Centre that it would face contempt  of court if it does not form CMB and also the 'Regulatory Commission,'

Criticising the approach of Karnataka government in CMB issue the Chief Minister said that while Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and Kerala sought to constitute the CMB forthwith, Karnataka sought time for the preparatory works and this tactic need to be condemned strongly,

Mr Narayanasamy also said that though he had submitted a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Puducherry on February 25 urging the formation of the Water Management Board he had not received any reply or response from the Chief Minister so far.

The Chief Secretary and PWD secretary had taken part in a meeting convened by the union water resources ministry with all the stakeholders including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Puducherry.

He also pointed out that an all-party meeting convened by the government here has passed a resolution demanding early setting up of the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) by the Centre.
