Hyderabad: The CISF Airport Security Group is adopting a technological upgrade to better guard the Shamshabad airport which is seeing an annual passenger growth of 30.74 per cent.

“We are well prepared and equipped with technology to tackle any unlawful interference to civil aviation,” said chief airport security officer Sudhir Kumar at the Shamshabad Airport, at an event to mark the 50th CISF Raising Day on Sunday.

The technological innovation which helped deliver seamless services to passengers includes facial recognition, the introduction of the automatic tray retrieval system, seamless e-boarding, express security check lanes, and no-stamping of boarding cards among many others which were first started at the airport. The red alert issued at the airport following the Pulwama terror attack is still in place. Mr. Kumar has appealed to passengers to report well in time and co-operate with the CISF security procedures.

He mentioned that security checks at the airport will take less time if passengers follow the rules regarding prohibited items while packing their hand baggage. He stated that the list of these items is available on tickets, on the websites of airlines and on the GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) website. “The list is also displayed at the pre-security hold area,” said Mr. Kumar.

GHIAL CEO S.G.K. Kishore said, “The CISF has been meticulously delivering top-notch security to the hypersensitive airport.” Mr Kishore awarded trophies to the staff based on their performance at screening, quick reaction, and other facets. He acknowledged appreciated the CISF performance during the high-alert situation.
