AP govt keen on developing Godavari islands as tourists spots
The state govt is keen to develop islands in Godavari area as tourism spots under Akhanda Godavari project.
Rajahmundry: Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has said that each island in Godavari area would be developed as a tourist centre under the Akhanda Godavari project in the state.
The minister who attended the concluding day of the five-day Konaseema Festival on Sunday which was held at Muramalla in I Polavaram mandal of the district, said, "the state government is keen to develop each island in Godavari area as tourism spots under Akhanda Godavari project."
All concerned departments have asked to prepare plans for this project, he said.
The minister also noted that since Konaseema area possesses natural resources, efforts have been made to develop tourism in this area.
Besides night safaris and eco tourism is also being planned in agency area in the district.
Festivals would make the people get together and the sales in the festivals period would promote economic activities, he added.
State Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa said that Rs 350 crore is being spent for tourism projects in konaseema area.
Boats in river Godavari, food courts and cultural programs will attract more number of tourists during this festival.
Endowments Minister P Manikyala Rao said the state government was putting more thrust on tourism promotion in the coming days and appreciated the district administration for successfully organising the festival.
