KOZHIKODE: Facebook has introduced ‘mark safe’ option to the users in connection with the Puttingal temple tragedy. Once the user ‘marks safe’ in the options given, the notification reaches all of his/her friends.
In the same way, if someone is in need of help, they can mark unsafe in the option, if they have access to Facebook. Earlier, the option was introduced during the Chennai floods, where people were stranded and raised their concern through the social media.
The advantage of this option is that all the friends in the list will get notifications
regarding the user’s plight. It also allows those in the friend list to mark the person safe or unsafe if the user is unable to access Facebook.
