Hyderabad: Two years after the bifurcation, Telangana brand corporate colleges are in the offing with the support of TRS leaders to check the domination of Seemandhra colleges in the state. A Telangana based group has started campuses at Madhapur, Kukatpally, Dilsukhnagar, Secunderabad and Vidyanagar.

With a hefty fee of Rs 2.60 lakh per year, the colleges offer Intermediate (10+2) with integrated IIT, Eamcet, coaching. The sector, especially in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, has been dominated by Narayana and Sri Chaitanya groups. Now, these groups have put some of their colleges up for sale  and exploring other states.

A TRS MP, a state Cabinet minister, the boss of a news channel and the chief of a media and PR organisation, which also runs schools, are said to be backing the group, which expects to expand its activities statewide within a year.

An official from the Board of Intermediate Education said, “The new group is yet to apply for recognition. But its five branches in the city have started taking students. Due to the backing of top TRS leaders, officials are delaying action.” He added the huge fees were in gross violation of norms.
