Andhra Pradesh: Gaiety marks Lord Rama's fete
K.E.Krishna Murthy offered silk clothes and pearls to the Lord and Goddess on behalf of the state government.
Anantapur: The celestial marriage of Lord Kodandarama Swamy and Goddess Sita at Vontimitta in Kadapa district was celebrated with a fervour on Monday night. Though the marriage of Lord Sri Rama is celebrated on the day of Srirama Navami at Bhadrachalam, the state government changed the tradition to celebrate kalyanam at Vontimitta in Kadapa district soon after the state bifurcation.
Deputy chief minister K.E.Krishna Murthy offered silk clothes and pearls to the Lord and Goddess on behalf of the state government. Though Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was scheduled to offer silk clothes on behalf of state government, he could not attended the occasion. On behalf of CM, Mr Krishna Murthy offered clothes to the God.
Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and several ministers and MLAs participated in the kalyanam.Tens of thousands of devotees participated in the grand celebrations. TTD made elaborate arrangements for the devotees. “We kept necessary stock of talambralu and prasadam for devotees”, T TD EO Sambasiva Rao said.
