Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday announced the pension scheme for single women will be launched on June 2, to coincide with Telangana Formation Day. Mr Rao said identifying single women in rural areas is comparatively easier that doing so in urban areas.
“In village, people know who is a single woman. But it is difficult in urban areas. How to identify them, I leave it to the discretion of collectors. One of the criterion can be if a woman is deserted by her husband for a year or more. As most of such women are poor, they need financial support. Aadhaar can also be the criterion for issuing pension,” the CM said.
