Chennai: Former director of IIT Ropar and honorary professor from IISc Bangalore M.K. Surappa will assume charge as new vice-chancellor of Anna University on Thursday.
He was appointed as the vice-chancellor of Anna University on April 5. “The vice-chancellor's office and his residence were cleaned and made ready for the new vice-chancellor. We expect him on Wednesday evening here,” sources in the Anna University said.
Though several political parties cricised his appointment citing he is from outside the state, Governor Banwarilal Purohit had defended the appointment saying it was done in accordance with statutes. He also urged the parties to keep out politics in the VC’s appointment and to avoid the unnecessary mudslinging.
