Kadapa: All set for polling in Seema
State and private offices, banks, educational institutions to be closed.
Kadapa: District administration has made all arrangements for a smooth and peaceful election.
District collector and election officer Harikiran and Superintendent of Police Abhishek Mohanti jointly made all necessary planning.
The district election officer has declared 11 April, Thursday, the poll day as a holiday. Government and private offices, banks and all education institutions will not be functional. There are 22,04,964 voters in the district. Out of this, 10,87,117 are males and 11,17,547 are females and 300 belong to third gender. 15 aspirants for Kadapa Parliament constituency and 9 contenders for Rajampeta Parliament constituency are in fight. In total, 133 aspirants are contesting from 10 Assembly segments.
Election officers have arranged 2,726 polling stations in the district, where 1,995 are in rural, and 731 in urban area.
The EVMs being used are: 6,560 control units, 6,560 ballot units and 6,900 VVPATs. There are 18,788 polling personnel, 573 micro observers, 326 sector officers, 326 route officers, 2,723 BLOs, 832 videographers, 2,000 web casting crew have been deployed. The entire polling staff were dispersed from Kadapa to their respective destinations on Wednesday afternoon.
555 buses were taken on hire and 40 light vehicles were engaged. The EC has made special preparations for physically challenged people, to cast their vote. The district administration arranged 2,220 vehicles for visually and physically challenged people.
Only three vehicles per candidate are allowed and only five persons can travel in a vehicle.
For Parliament candidates, 1 extra vehicle per Assembly segment will be permitted.
Security arrangements: 768 critical polling stations have been identified in the district . Out of this, 43 are vulnerable.
11 DSPs, 60 CIs/RIs, 125 SIs/RSIs, 3,500 Head constable and others, six companies of CAPF, six companies of IRB, 20 platoons of APSP have been deployed for security purpose. The District Election Officer and Collector Harikiran and SP Abhishek Mohanthi both monitors the arrangements.
SP Abhishek Mohanthi said that the police have been using ultra-modern body warn cameras, handy cams and CCTVs for vigilance. All the violations are recorded, he said. Police must arrest those who try to affect the polling, he warned. He requested the public to cooperate for a free and peaceful election.
