Kochi: Body of six-yr-old who went missing found

Aemey, daughter of Baiju, of South Kadamakkudy, had accompanied her father to his shed selling crabs at the jetty on Tuesday afternoon.

Kochi: The body of the six-year-old girl who went missing from the Kadamakkudy northern jetty on Tuesday was fished out on Wednesday morning.

It was the local people who found the body floating in the water some 200 metres far from the jetty on Wednesday morning. The police and other officials were alerted immediately and and the body was recovered from the water at around 7.30 am. The body was handed over to the kin after a postmortem in the afternoon.

Aemey, daughter of Baiju, of South Kadam-akkudy, had accompanied her father to his shed selling crabs at the jetty on Tuesday afternoon. She went missing at some point and a search was carried out by the father and the local residents. The scuba team from Fort Kochi Fire and Rescue station also searched for the girl in the water at every place where she could have fallen into the water. However, the search operation was stopped in the evening when it turned dark.

According to police, she might have slipped and fallen into the water when she was near the ferry.
