Maharashtra amenable to Medigadda barrage
Fadnavis has agreed to attend the next inter-state council meeting on Godavari in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad: The meeting between TS irrigation minister T. Harish Rao and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devender Fadnavis regarding the Medigadda reservoir across the River Godavari has yielded positive results on Tuesday.
According to Mr Harish Rao, Mr Fadnavis has agreed to attend the next inter-state council meeting on Godavari in Hyderabad and also agreed to enter into a pact with TS giving the nod for to the proposed barrage at Medigadda.
Mr Harish Rao, accompanied by principal irrigation secretary S.K. Joshi submitted the detailed plans of the proposed barrage to the Maharashtra Chief Minister, the state’s irrigation minister Girish Mahajan and the irrigation officials in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Both teams exchanged the information on the recent joint inspection by the officials of the two states for the Medigadda barrage. Both the teams concluded there will be no major submergence of land in Maharashtra’s Gatchiroli district except of 55 hectares on account of the construction of the barrage, according to Mr Harish Rao.
