Telangana: Union Bank customer holds dharna for not accepting Rs 10 coins

K. Ramesh of Dubbaka went to the Siddipet branch of the bank to deposit an amount of Rs1,12,000 in which there were 12 coins of Rs 10 each.

Hyderabad: A person who went to deposit money in the Union bank in Siddipet held a dharna in front of the bank when the staff refused to accept Rs 10 coins.

K. Ramesh of Dubbaka went to the Siddipet branch of the bank to deposit an amount of Rs 1,12,000 in which there were 12 coins of Rs 10 each, which the cashier refused to accept. He insisted that as per to RBI rules the coins can be accepted, but the bank officials did not oblige.

The behaviour of the bank officials irked Mr Ramesh who sat in front of the bank with the coins spread on the floor. It was only after media persons reached the spot and enquired about the issue, the bank officials accepted the amount.
