Transit warrant for Sudhakaran for Fera appearance
The judge also directed another accused and his brother Bhaskaran to appear before the court on June 7.
Chennai: The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Allikulam, at Egmore has ordered prisoners’ transit warrant to V.N Sudhakaran, now lodged in prison in Bengaluru along with her aunty and AIADMK general secretary V. K. Sasikala in disproportionate asset case, to appear before the court for framing charges in a Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (Fera) case registered against him by Enforcement Directorate two decades ago.
When the matter came up for hearing before judge S. Malarmathy, the counsel for ED submitted that Sudhakaran was not brought to Chennai to appear before the court due to security reasons.
Dismissing this, the judge directed ED to take necessary action to produce Sudhakaran before the court on June 7 and enabling them to escort him from Bengaluru prison the judge ordered prisoners transit warrant.
The judge also directed another accused and his brother Bhaskaran to appear before the court on June 7. The case related to illegal exchange of foreign currencies.
The judge directed ED to file details regarding the arrest of TTV Dhinakaran, elder brother of Sudhakaran, by the Delhi police. When the court was planning to frame charge against Dhinakaran, he was arrested by Delhi police last month in connection with alleged attempt to bribe the EC official. The judge adjourned the matter to Friday.
