Hyderabad: L&T Metro urges public to use crossovers
Random surveys carried out at major junctions show that people are reluctant to use crossovers as they think they will be charged.
Hyderabad: Not many city slickers know that Metro stations can also be used for crossovers and the L&T Metro Rail is using both online and offline measures to make people aware that they can not only use the first floor of the station to cross over from the east to the west or vice versa, but can also visit shops there that are being specifically built for commercial usage.
Said a L&T Metro Rail officer, “At present, we find that there are not too many takers for crossover usage. This is mainly because they fear that they will be charged. We have started retail outlets on both the operating corridors on stations where we have found good footfalls. The retail outlets on the first floor are for people and are to be developed into shopping and facility area.”
The Metro Rail has developed retail stores at Ameerpet, Nagole, Kukatpally and Miyapur where the number of passengers are high. Apart from using the rail services, the first floor or the concourse level has been designed for use of pedestrians who can cross over and also indulge in shopping in this area.
The random surveys carried out at major junctions of the city where the two corridors are operational like Ameerpet to Nagole and Ameerpet to Miyapur have shown that people are reluctant to use the crossovers as they think that they will be charged.
To make it clear that it is free of cost, this major campaign is being carried out so that people use the concourse level and also indulge in using the facilities which have been created.
