Vijayawada: AP Junior Doctors’ Association on Thursday took out a candlelight march in several parts of the state as homage to the martyrdom of Dr. Vandana Das in Kerala on Thursday. The 23-year-old doctor was stabbed to death by a drug addict at Kottarakkara taluk hospital, when she was dressing his wounds on Wednesday.

The junior doctors mourned the doctor’s death by observing two minutes of silence in hospitals and wore black badges to express their solidarity with the doctors who are on strike in Kerala.

They appealed to the state government to implement the Central protection Act expeditiously in order to prevent violence against doctors and healthcare personnel in hospitals. They demanded stern action against all those involved in such gruesome acts.
