Central nod for Andhra Pradesh plea on local status
Following the notification, those who migrate to AP from TS will be treated as local candidates in education and in employment.
Hyderabad: The Centre on Friday issued a gazette notification on local status issue, amending Article 371 D of the Constitution as requested by the AP government. This clears a major hurdle on the nativity status of those who migrate to AP from TS.
The AP government had proposed to amend Article 371D to solve the issue of local status in educational and employment fields for children of employees and others who migrate from TS to AP.
Regarding educational institutions, the Gazette notification says: “A candidate who migrates to any part of the state of AP from TS within a period of three years from the June 2, 2014 shall be regarded as the local candidate in the state of AP at the place of his residence and be treated at par with the local candidates residing in that area”.
Regarding employment, the notification said: “A candidate who migrates to any part of the state of AP from TS within a period of three years from June 2, 2014 shall be regarded as the local candidate in the state of AP at the place of his residence and be treated at par with local candidates residing in that area”.
In accordance with the Gazette notification, the state government has to issue the guidelines for the purpose of education and employment.
Meanwhile, AP Chief Secretary S.P. Tucker on Friday discussed the the guidelines to be issued with senior officials.
