We will do everything to rescue her: Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi: The Afghan authorities are checking whether the Pakistan-backed Taliban is directly involved in the abduction of Judith D’Souza. The move to target an Indian working there is significant considering Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Afghanistan and his efforts to strengthen ties between India, Afghanistan and Iran.
Pakistan’s ISI has also been under the scanner for its role in organising Taliban militant attacks on Indian diplomatic missions in Afghanistan over the past few years.
“Our embassy is in touch with senior Afghan authorities and the government is also in touch with her family in Kolkata. All efforts are being made by the Afghan authorities to secure her early release,” sources said.
“External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj spoke to me and assured that the government is making all-out efforts to bring her back,” said Judith’s sister, Agnes D’Souza.
