The boy Kurra Gauri Shankar told the police that he himself had gone missing and that there was no kidnapping. Unable to bear the pressure in college, after scoring less in Intermediate First Year, he had left the college hostel on the pretext of visiting a doctor for his leg pain. He never went back to the hostel again.

The son of a lecturer, K Bikshapathi from Nalgonda district, Gauri Shankar had enrolled in the N-120 branch of Narayana College located in Samatha block in Madhapur. He completed Intermediate First Year and scored 284 marks out of 470.
