Thiruvananthapuram: Interpol delegation visits Cyberdome in capital

Thiruvananthapuram: The Interpol has decided to join hands with Cyberdome Thiruvananthapuram to act sternly against the online sexual exploitation of children in the state. Interpol officers Guillermo Galarza (Director of Law enforcement training and technology, international centre for missing and exploited children) and John Rouse (senior detective of Queensland police service) - was in the state capital for a one-day visit at the Cyberdome here.

The Interpol has joined hands with the Child Sexual Exploitation Unit of State police to counter online child sexual exploitation. The team came down following the success of the special operation - Operation P Hunt - launched by the Kerala police, which led to the arrest of 28 people for sharing nude pictures of children.

Interpol officer Guillermo Galarza said that Kerala is the only state in India to have a separate team to deal with such cases after the training programme. In an effort to build capacity and equip the state unit with technology and resource to deal with cases of online sexual exploitation, the Interpol is planning for special training for the State police in September and February.

According to officials, more training has been slated for two days in September and two weeks in February for the forensic unit and police officers. The training will focus on how to get data from encrypted devices and how to use the specialised tools provided by the Interpol.
