All set for plantation drive in GHMC today
The mayor said that Monday's target would be exceeded by 10 lakh more saplings against actual goal of 25 lakh.
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan on Sunday said that the GHMC would plant as many as 10 crore saplings in the coming three years under the Haritha Haram programme.
Speaking at a press conference, the mayor said that Monday’s target would be exceeded by 10 lakh more saplings against actual goal of 25 lakh. “We are not only organising mega events on Haritha Haram for massive plantation drive but also taking responsibility for the protection of planted saplings,” he said.
GHMC chief B. Janardhan Reddy said that 28.5 lakh pits were dug for the massive plantation programme. “GHMC itself will plant about 7.5 lakh saplings at an estimated cost of Rs 21 crore,” he said.
Earlier in the morning, the mayor participated in Haritha Haram held along with cine actors Rakul Preet Singh, Rasi Khanna, Deputy Mayor Mr. Baba Fasiuddin and others at KBR Park.
