Speaking about the rampant corruption in the police department, Ganapati has blamed Mr Kempaiah for the present situation.
BENGALURU: DySP M.K. Ganapati, who leveled serious charges against former Home Minister K.J. George and two senior IPS officers before ending his life, has also named Kempaiah, the retired IPS officer who is now the advisor to the home minister. It has come to light that Mr Ganapati, who gave a lengthy interview to a regional TV channel before taking the extreme step on Thursday, had also named Mr Kempaiah. Speaking about the collapse of administration and rampant corruption in the police department, Mr Ganapati has blamed Mr Kempaiah for the present situation.
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has kept Kempaiah with him. You know how he is and everybody knows what he is doing. What was the necessity to give him that post? He does only these things…,” Mr Ganapati said. Besides this, Mr Ganapati also reportedly made several other allegations against Mr. Kempaiah off the camera.
Mr Kempaiah, who opted for voluntary retirement scheme when he was the Additional Director General of Police, was appointed as the advisor to the Home Minister by Mr Siddaramaiah. It is said that Mr. Kempaiah plays a key role in making any decision related to the home department.
The retired IPS officer had shot to fame when he played an important role in hunting down the assassins of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who had taken shelter in the city. However, he was seen as the controversy’s favourite child during his service. He also faced a serious allegation that he submitted a bogus caste certificate to bag the government job.
