Adilabad: Parents get back stolen infant
The couple stolen the baby from the maternity ward in RIMS on Monday midnight.
Adilabad: Adilabad police arrested wife and husband Soyam Pushpalatha, 29, Nagesh, 32, of Dasnapur colony in the Adilabad town while they were proceeding in a jeep towards Nirmal carrying the stolen a six-day old male baby in the wee hours on Tuesday.
The couple stolen the baby from the maternity ward in RIMS on Monday midnight.
Police successfully traced the accused and took them into custody and handed over the baby to the biological parents giving them much relief.
Pregnant woman Dirabasi Mamatha of Chorpalli in Narnoor mandal who admitted at RIMS gave birth to male baby on July 4. SP Vishnu S Warrier who got information about the incident alerted the police officials and asked them to conduct vehicle checking so that the accused nabbed immediately before they leave the district. The high alert of the police has yielded result. The accused couple with the stolen the baby were travelling in a jeep and were arrested at the Nerendigonda by the SI G. Harishekar.
Meanwhile, the accused couple claimed that having no children, they had stolen the baby and wanted to raise the baby with them to fulfil their desire.
The police identified the couple involved in the kidnap of the new born baby through CCTV footage of the RIMS hospital. SP Vishnu S Warrier visited the RIMS and handed over the baby to the couple biological parents Ganesh and Mamatha at the RIMS who thanked the police for restoring her baby. RIMS director Dr Ashok was present at the hospital. Police officials Sadhu Mohan Reddy, K. Narasimha Reddy, T.Swamy were present at press conference.
