Lok Sabha staffers working till late hours to get food, transport facilities
The problem was brought to the notice of Speaker by the Congress’ Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
New Delhi: The Lok Sabha Speaker’s office will arrange for transport, food and water for officials of the Lower House when there will be late hour sittings, an official said on Wednesday.
The staff faced food shortage and difficulty in finding transport to go home as the Parliament sat till 23:15 hours on Tuesday to debate on the union budget 2019-20.
The problem was brought to the notice of Speaker by the Congress’ Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Wednesday, Hindustan Times reported.
Chowdhury requested Speaker Om Birla to arrange for food and transport facilities for the staff when the House will sit till late.
The Speaker acceded to the demand saying, “now you will get everything”.
Officials said that the Lok Sabha proceedings had gone till late hours before as well. “No one is complaining about long hours. There were some issues related to food, transport which would be sorted out,” one official said.
