611 infiltration incidents along IB till June, govt tells Rajya Sabha
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the fence and floodlight work sanctioned along the Indo-Bangladesh border has vastly been completed.
New Delhi: As many as 611 incidents of infiltration have taken place along the international border (IB) in the first six months of 2016, Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
As many as 1,206 incidents of infiltration have taken place in 2015, 1,168 incidents in 2014 and 1,691 infiltrations in 2013, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said.
Out of the fence and floodlight work sanctioned along the Indo-Bangladesh border, about 82 per cent fence and 76 per cent floodlighting work has been completed, he said.
Similarly, 97 percent of sanctioned length of both fence and floodlighting work has been completed along Indo-Pakistan border.
"No fence and floodlighting have been sanctioned along the Indo-China, Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders. Along the Indo-Myanmar in Manipur, 40.2 per cent of the sanctioned length of fence has been completed," he said, replying to a written question.
