Hyderabad: While GHMC officials say that 1,116 vulnerable garbage points have been removed in the city, trash continues to be dumped in these locations.

For example, the bin in front of Swapnalok Complex was removed, but is back again now. Mr Avinash Dasar said, “We live in Vjaya Sree Apartments, Begumpet lane beside Pantaloons. There is an open land adjacent to our flat where waste is dumped. The GHMC had earlier removed the garbage but dumping has started again.”

One Mr Omkar Bidarkar added, “Garbage is being thrown on the main road, opposite Ramakrishna Medical Store, Gandhi Nagar, blocking the way. This is also resulting to traffic jams. Earlier a dust bin had been placed near Vishnu Residency but it has now been removed.”

GHMC Health and Sanitation officials said that the department was studying best practices in the country for devising a viable regulatory mechanism with penalties for violators and for sustaining the 1116 Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs).

“Public can complain on the MyGHMC app regarding unlifted bulk garbage under the grievance column; the complaints can be supported with pic-tures,”added the officials.
