Telangana: One killed, 1 injured in lab fire mishap

The deceased person was identified as Appal Naidu and the injured man as Srinivas Rao.

An MBA graduate working in the canteen of a city engineering college was found dead in suspicious circumstances in Dundigal.

Hyderabad: One person died and another person was one gravely injured when a fire broke due to chemical imbalance at a laboratory in Jeedimetla on Wednesday while lab assistants were cleaning reactors. 

The deceased person was identified as Appal Naidu and the injured man as Srinivas Rao. Both were working for Smilax Laboratories. The incident took place on Wednesday between 6 pm and 7 pm. “The two were working as assistants at Smilax Laboratories Limited in Jeedimetla. On Wednesday evening while they were at work cleaning the reactors they imbalanced the chemicals accidentally and that triggered a fire,” said inspector C. Shanker Reddy of Jeedimetla. 

“The two were rushed to hospital where Appal Naidu succumbed to injuries on Wednesday night and Srinivas Rao, who received 80 per cent burns, is undergoing treatment at Yashoda Hospital. His condition is critical,” added the inspector.

Based on a complaint received from Appal Naidu’s wife Nagamani Jeedimetla police booked a case under Section 304A (death by negligence) of IPC and launched an investigation.
