To address the concerns of engineering students, Anna University has decided to allow students under 2017 regulations to write arrears (reappearance) immediately following semester exams.

Chennai: In the wake of allegations of irregularities in revaluation and recruitment in Anna University, university vice-chancellor M.K. Surappa removed registrar S.Ganesan and appointed J.Kumar, director, Centre for Planning and Development, as registrar (in charge) on Friday.

Earlier, the Anna University Teachers' Association (AUTA) demanded the removal of registrar S.Ganesan alleging that he was also part of the corrupt activities that happened in the university during the last five years. The AUTA wrote to the Governor-Chancellor requesting him to give the direction to the vice-chancellor to appoint new registrar on Thursday.

Anna University registrar S.Ganesan's tenure was extended to one year after completion of three year term last year as the university was functioning without the vice-chancellor. Professor Ganesan was holding the post as in charge.
