Dr Parameshwar also said that the government is verifying the documents of Bangladeshi nationals living in the state.
Mangaluru: Taking serious note of reports that foreign nationals were overstaying in the state illegally, Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar has said that the government will deport them to their respective countries. This announcement comes a few days after the authorities arrested 107 African nationals who were overstaying after the lapse of their visa term. Of them, 107 possessed narcotic substances.
Dr Parameshwar also said that the government is verifying the documents of Bangladeshi nationals living in the state. “Foreign nationals who are overstaying, will be sent back to their respective countries. The government will pay for their flight tickets. The ticket fare will be recovered from the respective embassies and consulates," he said during his visit to Mangaluru on Friday.
He was in Mangaluru to hold a review meeting of the Western Range police department and also attend a programme at Bhatkal. He disclosed that the government is contemplating bringing changes in the uniform of women constables as they had expressed difficulty in performing their duties while wearing sarees. On the Gauri Lankesh murder case, Dr Parameshwar said the investigation was in the final stage.
