Thiruvananthapuram: Eyewitness saw Sriram driving car
Joby reportedly stated that Sriram appeared to be in a drunken condition when he got out of the car after the collision.
Thiruvananthapuram: The Special Investigation Team probing the case on Saturday recorded the statement of Joby George, an architect residing at Sasthamangalam.
Joby reportedly stated that Sriram appeared to be in a drunken condition when he got out of the car after the collision.
The investigation team has so far recorded the statements of Sriram, his co-passenger Wafa Firoze, Dr Rakesh Kumar of General Hospital, SI Jayaprakash and Inspector G. Sunil of Museum police station.
Though the investigation team served notices on three other eyewitnesses, none turned out after informing the police about their personal inconveniences. They have agreed to give their statements in the coming days.
The probe team has decided to seek the assistance of the Volkswagen auto manufacturers for recovering crucial evidence from the vehicle. The Volkswagen Vento, which Sriram was driving, reportedly has a feature, Event Data Recorder (EDR), which functions similar to an aeroplane’s black box. The EDR gets activated whenever sudden brakes are applied or the vehicle swerves off the road or after a hard collusion.
The probe team has already written to the Motor Vehicles Department seeking the report of the inspection done on the car after the accident.
