Thiruvananthapuram: LDF convenor A. Vijayarghavan on Monday said the huge success of hartal called against the rise in prices of petrol and diesel has indicated the anger of people against the policies of the BJP-led government at the centre.

While congratulating all those who ensured the success of the hartal, Vijayarghavan said the policies of the Centre was wreaking havoc with the lives of people especially those from the poor sections.

The hartal reflected the anger against the Modi government across cities, towns and villages, bringing normal life to a grinding halt. This time the people themselves came out and supported the hartal as they themselves bear the brunt of high fuel prices daily.

Without considering the nationwide protests, the Centre chose to increase fuel prices yet again. This is an open challenge to the people of the country.

The LDF convenor said if the Centre went ahead without altering its policies, it would face even stronger protests. Narendra Modi and BJP should not remain in the illusion that they can continue in power despite their ‘anti-people’ policies.
