School Onam to orient Ooty students

OOTY: As the Onam festival mood is sweeping the hills here, the sizeable numbers of Malayali population are geared up to celebrate this festival of art, flowers, vegetables, fruits and colours. The Crescent Castle Public School (CCPS) here organized the Onam festival on Tuesday to orient the budding minds towards nature and arts and strengthen the bonds of friendship and harmony through the celebration.
Students in Keralite attire laid flower carpets and pookalam to exhibit their skills in the flower arts and shook their legs around to bring in the real Onam fervor and flavor to the school campus. Teachers in the school gave lessons on the importance of Onam and the festivities related to it.
U.Farouk, correspondent of CCPS said that organizing Onam in the school is to signify the culture and tradition associated with the legendary festival. "The budding minds in the schools, irrespective of caste and religion should understand the importance of this age old ancient festival in the country and how it helps mankind to connect with nature and other arts to promote bonds of friendship and harmony with fellow countrymen," he added.
