84 Tamilians stuck in war-torn Israel
Chennai: Efforts were on to bring back the Tamils stuck in war-torn Israel – at least 84 of them have been identified – with the State Government keeping in touch with the Union External Affairs Ministry and the Indian Embassy in Israel and sharing their information about the people.
The Tamils had gone to Israel for higher studies in universities, to undertake business projects and for sightseeing as tourists, an official press release said on Tuesday, urging those needing assistance to contact the Overseas Tamils Welfare department by calling 8760248625 or 9940256444 or 9600023645 or through email to nrtchennai@tn.gov.in or nrtchennai@gmail.com.
The Tamil people were now staying in places like Beersheba, Yeruham, Ben Gurion, East Jerusalem, the University of Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv University and all of them reported to be safe and facing no difficulty, the release said.
