Government humiliating Tipu by celebrating his birth anniversary: Jagadish Shettar

Bengaluru: Calling Tipu Sultan a tyrant, senior BJP leader and former CM Jagadish Shettar contended on Friday  that the state government was “humiliating” the Mysuru ruler  by taking on itself the task of celebrating Tipu Jayanti as processions which were taken out earlier, have been banned. Speaking to reporters here ,he also reacted sharply to Mr Siddaramiah's claim that he had written a foreword to a book on Tipu. “Let him produce such a book, if it exists. I want to read what I have written about Tipu,'' he challenged.

Mr Shettar also demanded that AICC general secretary, Venugopal should not remain in charge of the Congress in Karnataka as he had been accused in a Kerala sex scandal involving actress Saritha Nair. “As similar allegations have been leveled against another AICC general secretary, Vishnu Panth, who is also in charge of Karnataka, the Congress high command should recall both  leaders,” he said.  The coming session promises to be stormy with the BJP readying to also demand removal of Bengaluru Development Minister  K J George, against whom the CBI has filed an FIR related to the suicide of DySP Ganapathi. “Mr George should have resigned after the FIR was filed against him. CM  Siddaramaiah is hell bent on protecting him. The BJP  will agitate for his resignation in the legislature,” Shettar warned.
