Mahendar Reddy is Telangana's new DGP

Hyderabad: The state government on Friday issued orders appointing Mr M. Mahendar Reddy, an officer from the 1986 batch, as the in-charge Director General of Police.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao signed the file pertaining to the appointment on Friday evening. Outgoing DGP Anurag Sharma has been appointed as adviser to the government on internal security.
Mr V.V. Srinivasa Rao, additional commissioner of police of Hyderabad, will be in-charge commissioner of police until an officer is posted on a permanent basis. It is likely that Mr Anjani Kumar of the 1990 batch will be appointed as commissioner of police.
IPS officers Tejdeep Kaur Menon, Sudeep Lakhtakia, Rajiv Trivedi, Alok Prabhakar, and T. Krishna Prasad were among the other contenders for the post.
The state government will send its list of six persons to the Union Public Service Commission, which, in turn, will select three officers and ask the government to any choose one of them to be appointed.
